How to choose a badger fat ointment
The simplest choice is the pure fat without further ingredients. Warm the 100 ml pack of pure badger fat slightly in your palms and massage it into dry skin morning and evening. It is also traditionally used for massaging the back, chest, soles and joints. It is an animal fat, so it is not suitable for vegan care. Looking for a balm with further herbs? How to use badger fat on the skin
A small amount is enough for a massage. Take the fat with a clean spoon, let it soften in your palms and massage it into the skin with slow circular movements. It suits dry areas such as elbows, knees, heels and hands, as well as a longer massage of the back and chest. After a while, wipe off any excess with a soft towel.
Badger fat or badger lard?
It is the same thing. Badger lard is the popular name for badger fat, which people have used for skin care and massage for over two hundred years. In searches you may also come across the name badger ointment. For skin care, choose pure fat without added fragrances and colourings.
Badger ointment in winter
Frost, wind and heating dry out the skin. In the evening, treat yourself to a warm bath and then smooth a thin layer of badger fat over dry areas. Pull cotton gloves or socks over your hands and feet and let the fat work overnight. In the morning, the skin will feel more supple and softer.
How to store badger fat
After opening, keep it in the fridge and use it within two months. Before first use, try it on a small area of the forearm. Do not use it if you are allergic to badger fat, in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are looking for a warmer massage, take a look at the bee venom balms.
