How to choose a tincture for the heart

The hawthorn tincture is made from the flowers and leaves of common hawthorn and has a firm place in traditional herbal care for the heart. Motherwort from the aerial part of the herb carries the heart in its very name. White mistletoe is a traditional herb of the winter months, and its tincture is chosen by those who wish for calm moments. If you love the spring flowers of the horse chestnut tree, reach for the horse chestnut tincture.

How to take hawthorn tincture

Hawthorn tincture is taken on an empty stomach: 20 drops three times a day, washed down with 200 ml of water or tea. For motherwort and white mistletoe we recommend 20 drops three times a day half an hour before a meal. Shake the bottle before use and do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The tinctures contain alcohol (35% vol.) and are not intended for children.

Hawthorn, motherwort and mistletoe – three traditional herbs

Common hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata) blooms with white flowers in spring and bears red pomes in autumn. Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) grows by fences and paths and takes its name from its old association with the heart. White mistletoe (Viscum album) stays green in winter, when you can best see its round clumps in the crowns of trees.

Caring for your heart and vessels every day

Herbs are only a small part of caring for your heart. Move, take walks in the fresh air, eat a varied diet with plenty of vegetables, drink water and give yourself good sleep and moments without hurry. You will find more tips in our article on caring for your blood vessels.

When to consult a doctor

If you take medication for the heart or blood pressure, are pregnant or are breastfeeding, consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking herbal tinctures. A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet or for treatment.
